Tim Ward is the Founder and Managing Director of Behaviour Wise Ltd

With a wealth of life experiences behind him including seventeen years as a Firefighter with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, Tim began his career in the Care Sector in 1999 working in Residential Children's Homes. After the closure of High Leas Children's Home, Tim transferred to Lincolnshire Secure Unit where he began working with Young People who displayed extremely challenging behaviours. Tim developed, implemented and delivered a range of 1:1 and Group work Interventions for the young people which included Fire Awareness and Emotional Management and Temper Control which were very successful. Tim also delivered interventions to young people on behalf of the Youth Justice Board before joining a brand new Local Authority Special School in 2006. The school supported pupils who had a wide range of special educational needs and most pupils displayed all levels of challenging behaviour. Tim joined the school as Pastoral Team Manager and again devised and delivered Behavioural Interventions to pupils with very positive results. Along with this work, Tim supported the families by delivering Parent Workshops both in school and at home focussing on Emotional Literacy within the family. He also gained  extensive knowledge of working with partner agencies through the LAC,TAC and CIN processes. After becoming licensed in Team Teach, Tim decided to qualify as an instructor. After three years of delivering Team Teach and a variety of other courses as an Employers Tutor, Tim is now a Senior Team Teach tutor within Lincolnshire and is an active member of the Team Around the Child Support and Development Forum which aims to raise the profile of the TAC process and support colleagues in the role of Lead Professional.

Behaviour Wise, through its comprehensive range of training options, now continues to offer all of the above support measures and ensures that staff from a variety of settings are able to receive up to date Continued Professional Development designed to holistically improve confidence and knowledge of all types of Crisis and challenging behaviours. By examining areas including external factors within families, roots of aggression, de-escalation, body language, team building and positive listening and learning, staff teams will be able to make a positive change by looking at behaviour as a language, discovering the links to the feelings and emotions which drive it. The Behaviour Wise aim encourages looking beyond behaviour in order to help young people and their families to identify strategies and options to manage feelings and emotions safely and positively, leading to more socially acceptable ways of dealing with them. Our vision is a future in which Emotionally Literate and supportive learning environments will enable young people to flourish empowering them to make positive life choices.
